Employee engagement and trust are at an all-time low.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion work is under scrutiny.
And too many teams feel stuck—trying to move forward while the landscape keeps shifting beneath them.
We know DEI principles matter.
But in a world of evolving legislation, politicized language, and growing fatigue, what we need now is a path forward that keeps people at the center—without putting business at risk.
That’s what The Humanity Practice is here to do.
It’s time to redefine what DEI actually looks like in today’s workplaces—and rebuild culture through daily, human-centered actions that are inclusive by design and impactful by practice.
Because I believe we change the world—one story, one conversation, one action at a time.
Where This Started
This series didn’t begin with a content strategy.
It began with three powerful truths that wouldn’t let go of me:
John Graham Jr., on a Diversiology webinar, said:
“If you want to talk about DEI, don’t call me. But if you want to build humanity practices—I’m in.”
Torin Ellis called me out and called me in by saying:
“Rocki. We need more video. More of you. Not panels. Not polished. Just you.”
And then there’s the belief I’ve held for years:
We change the world—one story, one conversation, one action at a time.
Together, those three ideas sparked something real.
Not another framework. Not another performative promise.
But a practice—built for this moment.
What The Humanity Practice Is

It’s not a campaign.
It’s not a leadership model.
It’s not about being perfect.
It’s one small, intentional action at a time—something you can actually do to make work feel more human.
Each video offers a simple practice: a mindset shift, a micro-action, or a way to pause and lead with purpose.
Not fluff. Not theory. Just grounded, real-life strategy.
You won’t need a team.
You won’t need Legal advice.
You won’t need a budget.
You’ll just need a willingness to try—one action at a time.
What You Can Expect
We’re launching The Humanity Practice as a video-first series built for real-world use:
- Short-form videos posted weekly on LinkedIn and YouTube Shorts
- Each video shares a Humanity Practice—something small, intentional, and doable
- Designed for anyone on any team—not just DEI leaders
- Rooted in real-life DEI resources that support human-centered leadership and inclusive workplaces
This isn’t just something I’m doing.
It’s something I hope we’ll build—together.
And over time, The Humanity Practice will grow into more:
- A book
- A platform
- A resource library
- A daily behavior movement
Because this isn’t just about content. It’s about culture.
Why Now
The work hasn’t gone away—but the energy behind it has shifted.
We don’t need to say more.
We need to practice better.
The Humanity Practice is how I’m choosing to show up in this season:
With intention.
With consistency.
With real, usable action.
Because I still believe—deeply—that culture change starts right where we are.
One story.
One conversation.
One action at a time.
